• This control unit is protected by SFD. For most diagnostic operations, this protection must be unlocked
• SFD was introduced by the vehicle manufacturer to protect vehicle data against manipulation
• SFD consists of a challenge and a token
the challenge is a code generated by the control unit based on the tester request (VCDS)
the challenge is the same every time until the control unit is unlocked and locked again
the token is a code generated by the vehicle manufacturer based on the challenge
the token is different every time, even for the same challenge
• There are multiple SFD unlock levels; for independent repair shops the manufacturer provides ONLY the Basic unlock level. If SFD is unlocked in the control unit and some functions (for example writing adaptations) return the error "XX - Security Access or SFD required", then it is very likely that the Basic unlock level is insufficient for the selected operation.
• After unlocking, the control unit will automatically lock itself again after XX minutes
• To successfully generate the challenge and/or enter the token, it may be necessary to have the hood open.
• The SFD status can be found in the SFD window or in UDS Measuring Values MASXXXXX–MASXXXXX

Connect to control unit XX - Gateway
Check whether the vehicle has a diagnostic filter (information for checking will be shown in the VConnect window)
If the vehicle has a filter and it is active, deactivate it. (the procedure can be found in the VConnect window)

Connect to the control unit in which you want to perform operations requiring SFD
select SFD
select Read challenge
using the challenge and the VIN, generate the token (for more information, log in to your user account at is.pc-autodiagnostika.cz)
select Release SFD
enter the token and make sure you are entering it without hidden characters such as spaces or line breaks
